Captain: Ch. Zareba's Midnight Runner, FCh, CD, RN, JC, TT, CGC, TDI, VC
Captain was one Zareba's most titled and most active dog in the early 2000's. In 2006, he was awarded the RRCUS Versatility Certificate, one of only 6 dogs in the country to get the award that year. As his owner/handler, it was such an accomplishment for us. That same year, he also finished in the RRCUS Top 20 Obedience!
He was a dream dog. With his rock solid temperament, happy and outgoing yet laid back personality and fun loving antics he always knows how to bring a smile to your face. In the show ring, he’s a natural crowd pleaser and feeds off of the attention so it made it hard to leave him at home when he retired.
Captain's fluid movement and correct type have earned him many Best of Breeds over top specials throughout the years. He also finished his championship with 4 majors including back-to-back 5 point majors under age 2. Captain also was awarded Best Veteran every time he competed as a veteran for a total of 5 Bests!
Captain has produced many performance titled dogs and very driven lure-coursing get. Lola was ranked ASFA #8 in 2008, #5 in 2009 and had a top performance in 2010.
There is a limited amount of frozen semen available from Captain to selectively approved bitches.

Captain's Offspring
The Captain relaxing, king of his domain
Captain was only bred 3 times in his life. We were fortunate to collect a small amount of semen that will be highly valued in our breeding program in the future. Due to the limited amount of semen, Captain will be very selectively used in the future to bitches meeting our criteria in order to maximize the potential for exceptional offspring.
Captain's frozen semen litter was used with success, resulting in 9 puppies bred by Tji-Wara Ridgebacks of Kansas.
Accomplishments of Captain's offspring:
2 AKC Grand Champions that both qualified for the Eukanuba Invitational, 5 total Grand Champions
8 AKC Conformation Champions
2 RRCUS Versatility Certificate Awarded dogs
3 AKC Dual Champion
1 Top 20 (#11, #17) RRCUS Bitch, 2010, 2009
3 Field Champions - AKC or ASFA
1 ASFA Lure Courser of Merit
10 Offspring with varying lure-coursing titles
3 Top 10 AKC or ASFA lure-coursers
2 Agility titled offspring
3 Offspring with varying obedience titles

Special "Thank you" to Mike Rajewski and Ramsay for making this wonderful video of Captain at the 2009 Ridgeback National Specialty. It is such a nice way to remember him and all the fun we had together in the ring. FYI- the dog winning the class (with Pam in white) is Kahoona (CH. Zareba's Big Kahoona, FCh, ET), Captain's full brother.
A special guest at our wedding
Marcin and I were so fortunate that Captain was at our wedding. It's not every day that your dog can be at your wedding to share the moment with you. This photo is a favorite moment of mine where our special bond was captured perfectly. He even had a bow-tie collar with a flowers pinned on it for the formal affair.
Captain's 4th and 5th Best Veteran Wins
Breeder/Judge Rhoda Springer and Judge John Steele gave Captain his final two Best Veteran wins in August of 2009 at the Raisin River Rhodesian Ridgeback Regional Specialty. Captain was Best Veteran in Sweeps and Best Veteran in regular classes too. What a day for him! There was younger competition, but like he always did, he prevailed. He did quite well as a veteran, still thrilled to be in the ring and I was just as happy to be there with him as his handler.
A third Best Veteran win for Captain
At the 2008 Orange Coast Rhodesian Ridgeback Club Regional Specialty, Captain won Best Veteran and won The Am/Mex CH Rob Norm’s Diamond Jim Brady Memorial Challenge Trophy. A silver-plated 15” Georgian Round Tray with Handles by Oneida offered by Myrna and Joe Berger for competition at OCRRC Specialty Shows only. It was quite a day for Captain.
Best Veteran wins 1 and 2; winning with Pasia!
Captain winning Best Veteran in 2007 two days at the Raisin River RR Regional Specialty and daughter, Pasia winning Best of Opposite Sex in puppy sweeps. The judges who recognized Captain were Breeder/Judge Celia Ruckel and Steward Danaker. This was Captain's first and second of 5 Best Veteran wins.
